BERRY SUCCESSFUL NIGHT FOR MENDIP COMPANY

A Mendip business has had a berry successful evening at the Somerset Business awards.

Shepton Mallet based recruitment agency Red Berry Recruitment won Mendip New Business of the year award, sponsored by Mendip District Council at the Somerset Business Awards.

The award sponsored by the local council was for a new business in Mendip that had been trading for under three years.  Red Berry Recruitment is located on Town Street in Shepton Mallet and was set up by Helen Lacey in January, 2008.

Helen Lacey, owner and managing director of Red Berry Recruitment, said: “We were delighted to win the Mendip New Business Award, this is the second year running that we have been recognised and awarded by the Somerset Business Awards.

“The accolade is a testament to the hard work put in by my staff at Red Berry Recruitment and I would like to thank everyone involved in helping us to win this award.”

In total six Mendip businesses were successful during the evening:
o Red Berry Recruitment – Mendip New Business sponsored by Mendip District Council
o Higos Insurance Services Ltd – Business of the Year 50 + employees sponsored by Clarke Willmott
o Avalon Leisure – Third place Business of the Year 50+ employees sponsored by Clarke Willmott
o Premier Water Solutions Ltd – Third place Mendip New Business sponsored by Mendip District Council
o RD Analytical – Second place Mendip New Business sponsored by Mendip District Council
o Tele PA – Second place E-Business sponsored by Business Link

Cllr Harvey Siggs, Leader of Mendip District Council said: “Mendip District Council’s Leader, Cllr Harvey Siggs, said: “The Somerset Business awards give local business the opportunity to showcase their skills and services. Sponsoring the Mendip New Business Award gave us an opportunity to allow Mendip businesses to be recognised.
 
“In the current economic climate, it is encouraging to see people working hard to make businesses succeed and Red Berry Recruitment is an excellent example of this.
  
“In these difficult times we as a council are committed to supporting local businesses and helping to encourage further business to the Mendip area.”

The annual awards are organised jointly by the Somerset Chamber of Commerce and the Federation of Small Businesses in conjunction with ADPR Ltd, Business Link, Butterworth Jones, Clarke Willmott, Lloyds TSB, Lentells, Mendip District Council, Samson Office Supplies, Somerset County Council, South Somerset District Council, Towergate Risk Solutions and UKTI South West.
