Taste of the West 2008 Awards Launched
Local food heroes are sought to enter this year's Taste of the West Awards
Entries are now being invited for the Taste of the West Awards in a number of categories. Alongside the traditional prizes for dairy produce, meat. preserves, fish and drinks, some new awards have been introduced for 2008, including local food champion, South West producer of the year and South West local food in schools.
In last year's competition, Truuly Scrumptious, based near Chilcompton, won the award for best dessert for their rice pudding.
Judging panels are made up of industry experts including chefs, food technologists, food and food preparation trainers/teachers, trade buyers, food writers and home economists.
Food professionals who wish to take part should visit the Taste of the West website on www.tasteofthewest.co.uk to get application forms and full details of all 23 categories.
