Frome design graduate wins place at prestigious exhibition in London

Claire Bevan, recent jewellery design graduate and apprentice to Annette Gabbedy in Frome is heading to the New Designers exhibition in Islington.

Claire Bevan of Great Elm, has been selected as one of the exhibitors in the recent graduates section of the New Designers show in London.

The exhibition showcases the very best of this year's graduating art and design students' work handpicking  exhibitors from the entire country.   Claire exhibited as a graduate of Birmingham School of Jewellery in 2007 and her work was very well received featuring in 2 national publications and 2 more exhibitions as a result.

The New Designers' creative team invites 50 designers from the previous year to come back and exhibit their designs again if they show particular promise. Claire is delighted that her work was chosen.

'It is a great honour and a huge opportunity to have my work shown in such an important arena.  I have produced several new wall hangings since last year and I intend to show these pieces in this year'sshow.'

Claire trained at Birmingham City University, graduating with a first in Jewellery Design.  She creates textile pieces ranging from jewellery and accessories to home furnishings.  Her silversmith training enables her to incorporate metal wires and pieces into the textile creations.  Claire's work is inspired by the research she has carried out into the psychology of Asperger's syndrome, bringing together both chaos and order which are features of the condition.

New Designers attracts key players from the design world and can lead to great opportunities for the young designers who may find themselves invited to other exhibitions, commissioned to do creative work or just selling.

Claire Bevan has her own website where you can see her designs - www.clairebevan.co.uk
