Celebrated young Shepton Mallet-based chef Elisha Carter steps before the TV cameras this week.

Elisha has been selected as one of 14 top chefs nationwide to feature on BBC2's Great British Menu and is competing against Chris Horridge from Bath for the right to represent the South West in the contest.

Elisha Carter is head chef at the Sharpham Park restaurant at Charlton House Hotel in Somerset.

Originally from North London, Elisha Carter began his career with a two year apprenticeship at The Ritz, under the stewardship of Keith Stanley.

Elisha then spent a year at Gleneagles hotel as pastry chef. He has since worked with John Burton Race, with Raymond Blanc at Le Manoir aux Quat' Saisons in Oxfordshire and with Richard Corrigan at Lyndsay House in London's Soho.
