
Shepton Mallet Heritage Walks with Alan Stone

Local Historian Alan Stone with assistance from Len Ware will again be leading a series of walks looking at the heritage of Shepton Mallet and the local area.
Walk 1 Old Shepton. Tuesday 10th June
A walk including the Market Place, The Church, The Prison, Garston Street - focusing on medieval and early modern Shepton Mallet. Meet at the Market Cross at 7pm.
Walk 2 Beacon Hill to Charlton. Wednesday 9th July
A slightly longer walk (but Downhill!) following the course of the Fosse Way from Beacon Hill back down to Shepton Mallet. Meet at the Charlton Brewery at 7:00pm.
Walk 3 Wester Shepton. Tuesday 5th August
A walk around the Western edges of the town. Identifying the area once known as "Wester Shepton" and other buildings of interest. Meet at St. Peters Hospital 7:00pm
Walk 4 The Town Centre Tuesday 2nd September
An investigative walk looking at the history of the shops and other buildings in the town centre. Meet at the Market Cross 6:30pm
