Babycham
Dry Blackthorn, Gaymers Original, Olde English,
K Cider and Addlestone’s are some of the famous cider brands made in Shepton Mallet.
Visitors to Shepton Mallet will notice a large plastic fawn positioned outside the gaymer's factory alongside the A37, which celebrates the Babycham drink.
Babycham was first developed by Francis Showering, a local brewer and cider maker, in the 1940s. Its success went nationwide in the late 1950s and was hugely popular in the 1960s and 1970s. Although the brand has weathered some hard times in the last 30 years, it is still made in Shepton Mallet and has become something of a cult drink.
Dry Blackthorn; Gaymers Original; Olde English; K Cider and Addlestone’s are some of the other famous brands now made in Shepton Mallet by Gaymers - the world's second largest cider maker.
The Showering family have been involved in cider-making since 1658. Today, Brothers Drinks manufactures ciders and perries from their base at a historic brewery in Shepton Mallet.
